Project Overview
Commissioned under the UN-Habitat framework with support from the European Union (EU) and Cities Alliance, this project focused on the spatial and economic transformation of the Turkana West corridor. Our approach was anchored in the principle of enhanced connectivity, reimagining the region not as an isolated frontier, but as a vital economic gateway integrated into the broader national and cross-border regional context. The study provided a strategic roadmap for shifting the local development paradigm from subsistence to sustainable growth. By emphasizing regional integration, we identified the critical infrastructure and policy levers necessary to unlock the commercial potential of Turkana West. Our team, led by our Urban Planner and Sociologist/Community Development Expert in senior leadership roles, ensured that the resulting spatial strategies were both economically ambitious and grounded in the social realities of the residents and host communities.
